In the 80s AmaDamara played a huge role in influencing our music.
Freddy Gwala one of South Africa's musician produced a track paying tribute to amaDamara.
As the years went by the name amaDamara changed with the years and the fashion style changed as well, during this period the fashionista called themselves amaPuntsula and they did things differently from amaDamara they added colour in their fashion statement and they knew how to dance which made them more popular than amaDamara and these guys were not the working class kind of a guy, these guys were thugs and everybody was scared of them because they caused trouble every where they went.
AmaPantsula wore ALL STARS and chinos with floral shirts or colourful golf t-shirts and they drove expensive cars which were either stolen or borrowed and they had money to flash around to attract girls and girls loved that these guys lived on the edge and could give them anything they wanted.
Girls loved the fact that if you were dating a Pantsula you would go to all the parties that were happening around Soweto and you would get in for free if you were dating a Pantsula and no other guy would approach you or try to talk to you if you were a girl and your boyfriend was a Pantsula.
AmaPantsula had their own language they called it "Tsotsi Taal" which is a mixture of Afrikaans and zulu, sesotho, setswana and other langauges and the whole purpose of this language was so that the Damaras don't hear what the Pantsulas were planning and also so that they are distinguished from amaDamara.
